Registration

Registration is closed

There's still plenty of seats available! This year our CRFG Holiday Event will be held inside the school auditorium on the north end of the Bancroft Center. There's ample FREE parking in one of the two available car lots, and you can enter the school through the black wrought-iron gates that will be open by 4:00pm on Spring Drive. We hope to have a sign there welcoming CRFG partygoers!

We are asking that people sign-up ahead this year, as we have a maximum seating for 150 people and want a head count. Walk-ins are possible - if vacancies are still available on the day of the event. However, we will keep this registration open, unless all 150 seats are reserved - or until Saturday morning. We'd prefer each person attending be listed on the check-in sheet at the door. If you have trouble signing up online, please contact Robin. All CRFG members can reserve multiple seats for additional household members or non-member guests by re-using the same email that's on file with CRFG. Just re-sign up adding a guest's name in place of yours. It will not cancel your registration. This is a first-come/first-serve sign up; so don't wait too long. It's only a two days away! North County Chapter members welcome too.

This is a potluck party: Please bring something to share, more if you're bringing a family or group. Indicate whether you're bringing hors d'oeuvres, side dishes or casseroles, salads, beverages or desserts. There will be labels for putting your name on the dish when you arrive, and please bring serving utensils for your potluck items.

There will be a gift exchange: To participate, bring a small item wrapped or unwrapped, preferably under $20. Suggested gifts might be plants, garden supplies, food items, home decor, reading materials, or use your imagination. If you drop a gift at the gift table, you'll get a ticket and there will be a drawing during the party to pick another package. Beware, these can be "exchanged" twice during the evening.  There will also be door prizes!

We are still looking for a few volunteers who are willing to assist with clean-up at the end of the evening. If  available for any tasks, please contact Robin Rivet as soon as possible. treetutor@gmail.com  or by text: 619.994.5981.

There is one specific need that still need a volunteer: We could use a member(s) to take home the soiled recyclable plastic dishes and stainless steel cutlery after the party (pre-bagged) to wash in a home dishwasher. We can arrange to pick up the items later as necessary - to store in the Bancroft library shed.  Please contact Robin Rivet.

Presenting at our evening meeting in July 2025 is Karen England, current president of the San Diego Horticultural Society and she's also the editor of their monthly newsletter. CRFG's secretary Robin Rivet writes a regular column for that organization and wrote about the California Rare Fruit Growers in February last year. Karen England is a wonderful treasure in our county and she's on the Board of Director's for the International Herb Association!
She's teaches classes at Oasis and here's her cool bio:
Karen England

Karen England, an herb gardener of over 30 years, is on the board of directors of the International Herb Association and a regular food and drinks contributor to the group’s Herb of the Year™ books. Karen was lucky enough to have attended seven weeklong intensive cooking courses at the world famous Ballymaloe Cookery School in County Cork, Ireland, studying under the amazing Darina Allen. Darina has impacted Karen’s culinary teaching style making it accessible, attainable, delicious and fun. For ten years, Karen was the culinary docent at the Lavender Fields of Valley Center and wrote and published their branded Lavender Cooking booklet.

In addition, Karen, who lives and gardens on two acres in Vista, California, self-published for her own label, Edgehill Herb Farm, a still popular cook booklet (now PDF) entitled Scented GeraniYums! Cooking with Scented Pelargoniums. In the past she self-published a now out-of-print booklet co-written with Sheryl Lozier for Summer’s Past Farms entitled Herbal Vinegars. Although the booklets are no longer in print, the delicious recipes and useful information lives on in Karen’s herbal presentations and cooking classes.

She also hosts a podcast: https://edgehillherbfarm.blog/2020/08/08/hear-karen-england-on-the-buildsters-podcast/
