Do you want to know about how to manage all of the critters that eat our plants and fruits? Well, our Open Learning Day at the Spring Valley SDYS Fruit Forest is the absolutely perfect place to answer those questions AND learn (hands-on) about all sorts of growing/propagation techniques.
Information on one of our teachers this week:
Charles Borrego, is a father of three, a combat veteran. and a current ICU Registered Nurse. With a deep passion for gardening he has explored 17 years to regenerative agriculture specializing in soil health and sustainable practices. An expert in vermicomposting over 15 years, Charles enjoys experimenting with various compost tea recipes to nourish his garden.
He is always eager to share his knowledge and process with others. He splits his time between San Diego and the Sonoran Desert of Tucson, AZ.
Charles brings his expertise in both desert and urban landscapes.
The format of this day is as follows:
9:00am-10:00am Social Hour. Get to know one another and tour the garden.
10:00am-12:00pm People suggest several topics that they would like to learn and then people that are willing to teach those subjects break off into specific groups to begin!
Bring something to share from your garden (or kitchen) if you can!
Additionally, the San Diego Bounty Swap group will be trading all sorts of homemade and grown goods at the same location from 10:30am-11:45am.
